EPOS

13 Oct 2021

EPOS (European Plate Observing System) is a  European research infrastructure in solid Earth sciences. Its function is to organize the provision of all data, models and equipment
by integrating national infrastructures. The EPOS-France IR is the French contribution to EPOS for the seismology and geodesy components in particular. RENAG is therefore strongly concerned by this project.

Indeed, EPOS aims to integrate the geophysical observation means and to harmonize their use at the European level. The data part of the EPOS-GNSS project has led to the development of the GLASS software used today for the discovery and the massive download of observation files for the stations integrated into the project. The quality-checked data are used to compute products that are key for the monitoring of the European plate deformations such as velocity and strain maps. EPOS is a long-term project which entered its operational phase in 2020.
